Fluffiefaerie's Mini Project

Welding Continued

Progress is going well with the new air vent panel all fixed in and the rest of it patched up.

The under scuttle little panel had to made up and caused a bit of a headache but its in there in the end, to seal the scuttle up.

We hung the door using the new hinge panel and air vent panel, after bolting up the test came when we came to open it... would it drop... Nope.. rock solid, a lovely firm finish and we even rocked the car using the door, and the door shut perfectly in line. amazing :-)

We found that not much of the drivers floor was actually attached to the rest of the body, large holes as you can see this was covered in filler, all cleaned back and a patch will go in for this.  Its the usual though with a project, you always find more as you go along!

Decided to rub down the small rust patched on the drivers door we have and found that the skin had rusted through, might get patched or filled, not sure yet, as its on a difficult part to patch, right at the bottom.  Found the reason for this though, they had over greased the door mechanism which fell to the bottom of the door and created a sort of pocket for the water to sit in against the skin and thus rust it out.  So will clear this away so the water can run out of the drain holes easily.

note, all welding is to be tidied up and grinded down smooth, we are just getting stuff in and fixed at the moment.
