Fluffiefaerie's Mini Project

Welding Continued...

Pictures Provided by sssstew

The front end has now been securely welded on, had a good pull around and its rock solid! probably better than it ever was.

The old sills were removed, tons of rubbish pulled out and all cleaned back and hammerited with rust beating primer.  It was found that the either the brake or clutch master cylinders is leaking its fluid into the drivers footwell which has speeded rusting in that area hence a few patch panels were welded in.  The leak will be sourced and fixed soon.

We couldn't believe the old sills though, which were just over sills welded on quickly, not even painted, they were still in the original black like our new panels, they had just put some awful rubberized paint on the underside, no protection at all really! terrible! hence why the inside of the outer sill is all rusted and would have gone through soon, in the pic below.

Also the bottom of the rear panel behind the drivers door was patched up as this had rusted through but not as bad as the other side.

The rubber bush for the cone in pic one below has come apart from its joint and is loose, i assume this shouldn't be, will be fixed.

note, all welding is to be tidied up and grinded down smooth, we are just getting stuff in and fixed at the moment.

All thats left of the old sills!
