ello people.. ! ..
stumbled apon this forum, when trying to find other Mini Minus Owners
and as this fourm holds owners of two !
minimike and Random Nonsense
thought i would join, and becaome part of the team !

Ok .. my minus .. Is red at present. (will be blue'y colour at the end tho)
brought 2 years ago, the history of this Minus is a good one.. (and know it from its birth, well over 20 years ago) anyhows had good intention of doing it up in a year or so. but instead found me a g/f at about the same time, and well .. didnt really get much done on the minus for that year ! just prepared the underneath really ..
BUT start of this year. i had to Move (landlord wanted his house back to sell it!!)
and thus i had to get the minus back onto wheels and sorted out so i could easily move it too my new house !!

Ok when i brought it, it was JUST a shell (with GRP, bonnet and boot, cut down steel doors. and also front and rear subframes supplied)
in that first yeah, as i say just prepare the underneath..
painted it and so on, as it had lived direct on a floor !!! so lots of scratched .. not deep ones, just surface. So lived on its side at mine for a while

(IMG:http://www.gadgets23.co.uk/minus/pictures/01%20-%20red%20rolling%20shell%20Mick%20-%2001.jpg)

ok so once i found i had to move, i had back subframe on, from subframe ready to go on ..
and for about 2 months started taking all time to get it done (was basicly an hour a day)
a managed to get front subframe on, and all back on its wheels !!
only had two 10" wheels :( so had two 10" at back and 12" on front :(

ok so am now at me new house and of course all excited again and pumped up, on doing me minus !!!

so some current pics .. excuse me on the photos .. thought i'd stay in photos, so u can get a perspective on just how low these minis are !!
(as they had a body cut, on the body hieght (not the windows, like the spint versions)

ok now the pics !!
they are as it is ! .. so ! just rolled it outer me garage and started snapping ! lol

how minus bonnets should be !

I reckon the number means it was made in 1987, and is the 11th shell that year! Mine doesnt appear to have a number like that. But mikes has a biiiig long number in a similar place. Hopefully he will be able to take a pic to show u!

Nice one! good to see another new member with an exotic project on the go!

So whats the history of this shell then? by the look of that bonnet, its gone racing at some point, those look like ramstack holes to me.

Nah I reckon the holes are to clear the dashpots on SU carbs personally!

I stand corrected then! But it IS possible to get everything under there without having anything sticking out, it just needs careful choise of inlet manifold, oil cap, and radiator mounting brackets.

Otherwise, use a KAD 16v bonnet, thats got more than enough clearance and looks the mutts nuts.

wow .. im glad to be welcoming into the comunity !
and have such a response !

yeah the holes were for a twin carb system.
(and that buldge is for the rocker cover cap)
which i think is a much better way of doin the bonnets on the minus ..
not sure how much of the dahpost will stick out ! .. but will look kinda sweeeet !
not sure about when it rains etc ? .. would be good 'dashpot cooling ! lol

ok history of shell, is that it was owned by the actually creater of the minus !! ..
keith lane ! he stripped this shell to make the RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) mini !
its got a specific name but canna remeber it now ... grrr
but is a Minus shell .. BUT with engine/front subframe at the back !!

It's called a "4r2" after the metro 6r4.
And your car is so rare it is worth an absoloute fortune! Well, to a minus nut at least.
You are very very very lucky. I knew about the rear wheel drive ones but I think they only made about 2!

well .. when i found out about the shell...
he (thats keith laine) had the shell i got, the 42r (man ive been trying to remeber that name since i saw it ! lol), and ALL the moulds to make minus's

and he was selling the lot as one... because he was selling the land that was used to store it all..
when i got there he had a big bonfire going throwing loadsa stuff on there ! ..
Glass Fibre moulds etc.. and sorting thought 2 big barns full of stuff !!! ..

but i managed to persuade him (well my dad did, as he sorta, in a rounda about way, knows him .. well, his old friend knows keith)
so i brought the shell, two steel doors that had already been cut down etc,
and front and rear subframes.
was pretty skint at the time, and got a loan out to buy what i did... wish i able to get more so that i could of brought more of the stuff he had..
or at least took more pictures !!

i only just managed to buy it ... i had that week otherwise it would of gone with the rest !
and the person who brought the lot was Shaun dyson... (otherwise know as RallySportReplicas)
so he has the 4r2.. and all the moulds which u know off
and the minus shell that they have for sale, is the first one THEY made .. (not the first ever shell which i read somewere, i forget were)

ooo i could talk about this all night !! .. oooo i do ove mnis !
Mick ..
